Grandpa Hillam's Funeral

Grandpa Hillam (Jordan's Grandfather) was diagnosed with Lou Gerick's disease in October and passed away about 6 months later in March. The disease increased very rapidly each day and we knew that he did not have long. We had a great visit with him over Christmas and were able to talk to him for a while. Which was a big deal because he was no longer able to speak come January. We figured it would be out last time to see him and we were right. He was a wonderful Man who did a lot of good in the world and helped to influence and motivate many people around the world including me. I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to know him these past 4.5 years. This was very hard on Jordan as he has grown very close to Grandpa but his legacy will and does live on. Thank goodness for the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation and Eternal Families which helps makes times like this a little easier.

We went out to Bountiful for the Funeral. It was such a spiritual and uplifting experience. I was absolutely amazed and the love and support for this Man. It was fun to hear stories and experiences people had had with him.

It was neat to meet several members of the Quorum of the Seventies, and of the 12 Apostles who had worked with him. I will never forget what Elder Perry had said in his remarks- That Elder Hillam had made it to the highest degree of the Celestial Kingdom-will you be there with him? This helped me to ponder, reflect and re-evaluate my life. This is my goal to live with my family forever and I feel I am doing pretty good but there is always room to do better.

Grandma Hillam is such a great lady. She is doing surprisingly well but I am sure there are good and bad days. We are just glad that she is still with us.
Jordan and Daniel were pallbearers don't they look handsome?

We've been thinking you and the rest of the family. What a great man.
