NEEDING ADVICE FROM ALL YOU MOMMIES!!!

Hello fellow mommies....I have a question. How in the world do you make time to exercise? What do you do, how many days and how long? I am needing ideas! I try to get out and use the jogging stroller. But you know Idaho and the wind....So starting to get to cold for Daniel. Anyway, I am open to ideas, suggestions, and motivation! PLEASE!!!

uhm. 4 or 5 of us meet up at the ridge crest commons at 9:30am mon-fri and do work out videos and the kids play (or like emma just sits there and whines... :) anyways, you are definitely welcome to come if you can! sometimes if it is nice outside we go walk with our strollers for 3 or so miles... but yeah you could just meet us up there if you want!

i can't tell you if it works for a mommy yet - but we have a treadmil in our family room so there is NO EXCUSE... granted i've been pregnant since we have had it and haven't use it. but a good walk during a show could owrk and you can watch daniel from there - there might be something in your local classifieds to get one. or i am going to try work out videos - we'll see how that pans out - maybe daniel will start dancing along... hee hee

Lift baby up, set baby down.
Do 5 sets of 20.
Then put dangerous object all over the floor and run around picking them up before Daniel can stick them in his mouth.
Do for 30min to an Hour.

Exercise done.

We bought a treadmill on craigslist and that is what I do. I have a jogger but it is not an expensive one and not that great at turns. We spent $200 and got a great deal on our treadmill. Also I have a torso track which is wonderful for the stomach... you get really sore and you know its working with in 24 hours... I had Billy Blanks kickboxing videos and it worked sometimes but I got bored with the videos and tried to do a bunch of moves from memory (less effective). I usually work out right after I put Jackson to bed or if he has a nap. Kickboxing I can do when he is awake, he's really entertained by it. Also, lunges across the room and squats on my coffee table I can do when he's right there. I like Tom's ideas!!

When you kids were little I did the Aerobic workout on the BYU TV channel called 'Hooked on Aerobics'! I loved it! I could stay home and get a good workout. Then I advanced to a step and workout videos! Of course I love running outside the best but you have to adapt to all situations! Kudos for making the effort! MOM

FOr motivation, I suggest signing up and PAYING for a race. If you pay, you are way more likely to train for it. That's what I did this time, and I am BELOW my pre-pregnancy weight already @ 6 months postpartum! I am running 4 days a week, and I am going to start Yoga on the other 2 days (I've discovered that yoga works well w/ running because of the stretching involved--it keeps my muscles from getting too tight from running). I run either before Jason leaves in the morning, or after he comes home. But w/ Idaho weather, I would suggest finding a treadmill or elliptical.

Good Luck! it's tough getting started, but stick with it! you'll find that you have a lot more energy to be a mommy if you take time to exercise everyday.

I join gym with daycare when I can. But if you can't then there are always workout videos. I did them in the mornings before Ethan woke up or even when he was awake. He would crawl around on the ground while I leapt all over the place.

I love Tom's advice. hahahahahahaha!

if you have a busy husband...it only gets harder from here. good luck. the only thing that worked really well for me was when I signed up and paid for a class (i prefer step aerobics). Maybe you can trade babysitting with another mom....or if you are really self-motivated you could do something at home while daniel is sleeping..it gets trickier once you have more kids.
